There are few things more frustrating, infuriating, depleting, and confusing than knowing exactly what you’re capable of, what you’re creating, who it’s for, and how to make it all work… and then putting in the work…only to find it all ever so elusive.
Few things feel more disheartening, helpless, restraining, and yet hopeful than watching someone in the darkness of their soul…knowing their brilliance, their potential, their limitlessness, but having to let them go through it on their own.
So often, we keep circling the truth and looking for a different answer, only to realize that it’s not about changing the destination but about allowing ourselves to believe what we already know.
From the outside, the pattern is clear: arriving at the right insight, but reaching beyond it for something newer, bigger, more elaborate. And each time, it all dissolves, only to land us right back where our gut and intuition led us from the very beginning.
A skilled observer would notice that this is not the arc of failure but simply the excavation of the load-bearing thing.
But from the inside, it’s pure chaos. It’s like fighting for your life while exhausted, scared, running out of money, out of contacts, out of time… and still choosing to do the rigorous, honest, difficult thinking anyway.
The thing is, insights are not generated in a calm room. They are dug out through crisis. And that truth is earned.
But even the hardest work, the work of clearing away everything that wasn’t you until what remained was clear enough to build on, gets easier when you have the rock, the wind in your sails, and a safe harbor to come home to. I know how lucky I am that I do.
